About Bruce Higgins

2008 Magnuson Sound Legacy award winner Bruce Higgins

2008 Magnuson Sound Legacy Award

Bruce Higgins

The City of Edmonds recently honored Bruce Higgins for volunteering his time, energy and expertise to Edmonds Underwater Park Marine Conservation Area for “Safer” Eco-tourism SCUBA diving by renaming the park “Bruce Higgins Underwater Trails.”

Higgins spends practically every Saturday and Sunday working at the park and has donated more then 25,000 hours over the past thirty years to this first underwater city park in the United States.

The underwater park provides habitat for marine life to reproduce and repopulate Puget Sound. Divers visit the park to see protected marine life.

Bruce has inspired and mentored countless Puget Sound divers, who in turn have become advocates for saving the Sound and volunteers to carry on Bruce’s work.
