May 18- Volunteer restoration event at Randall Point, Olympia

The Weeds Are Back! Stop the Weeds!

Join with People For Puget Sound and the Capitol Land Trust to help us keep this restoration site on track to become healthy habitat.   This site is connected to a larger conserved landscape and restoration is going very well.  Inlet has been identified as a priority area for restoration and we are working together to fight the invasive weeds on this site.  The trees and shrubs planted four years ago are looking great and competing with the invasive weeds.  Put on your (work) gloves and join the fight!  The weeds are growing fast this time of the year and we want to make sure they don’t go to seed or cause problems for the native vegetation.

From I-5 exit onto Hwy 101 via EXIT 104 towards Aberdeen/Port Angeles. Take the 2nd Ave SW exit. Turn right onto Mud Bay Rd NW and go about 1⁄4 mile.  Park in the gravel parking lot just past Buzz’s Bar.  Cross the road on foot to the restoration area to the right of and behind the Blue Heron Bakery.

This event will take place rain or shine, so don’t forget to put on sturdy footwear and dress for the weather. Also, make sure to bring sunscreen and water and pack a sack lunch. We will bring cookies and drinks. We’ll have tools and work gloves to spare if you don’t have any of your own.  Everyone can help! No experience necessary.  Please register in advance by email so we can make sure we bring enough tools.
