Hundreds of volunteers are needed at the October 11 Duwamish Alive! Fall restoration cleanup day in Seattle at eight work sites along Seattle’s hometown river.

“Duwamish Alive! is a chance for people to reclaim the river by weeding invasive plants, planting native species, mulching the planting areas, and picking up debris and trash from the riverfront sites,” said People For Puget Sound’s restoration ecologist Eliza Ghitis.

Beginning at 10 AM, volunteers will work at Codiga Park in north Tukwila, Duwamish Riverbend Hill Park in north Tukwila, Turning Basin No. 3 in South Park, Hamm Creek Estuary in South Park, Roxhill Bog in West Seattle, Gateway Park North/8th Ave. S. in Georgetown, West Duwamish Greenbelt (Pigeon Point Park) in West Seattle, and Herring’s House Park in West Seattle.

To volunteer, call (206) 382-7007. Complete site descriptions and driving directions are found here.
