A thousand volunteers are needed at 12 restoration work sites along the Duwamish River on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Work parties begin at 10 AM as the annual Duwamish Alive! Earth Day community celebration kicks off to restore habitat for fish and wildlife. Pull weeds, mulch planting areas, plant native vegetation, and pick up debris and trash in the restoration areas. Bring yourself and work clothes; we provide tools, gloves, and instructions. REI will be providing snacks and coffee/tea for all sites. Sites in the Duwamish Watershed need your help!

  • No experience necessary--we will discuss safety and give an overview of the project.
  • The event will take place rain or shine.
  •  Dress for the weather (rain gear in case of bad weather or sunglasses and a hat if it's sunny).
  • Wear sturdy foot gear (boots, sneakers, etc. but no sandals).
  • Long trousers and long sleeves are helpful where there are blackberries
  • Bring work gloves and weeding tools if you have them. Bring a refillable water bottle.
  • We will provide work gloves, tools, snacks, and beverages.
  • Children 10 and under must have one-to-one adult supervision.

Volunteers are needed at any of the sites listed below. To sign up or get more information contact us | 206.382.7007
