People For Puget Sound is a citizens' group established in 1991 by Kathy Fletcher to protect and restore the health of our land and waters through education and action.

Saving Our Sound
Worked successfully for a new initiative to restore the Sound's health by 2020

Preventing Oil Spills
Secured funding for a rescue tugboat stationed at Neah Bay to protect the coast and western entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca

Saving Our Orca Whales
Successfully fought for the "endangered" listing for our Southern resident orca whales in order to begin their recovery to health

Restoring Damaged Habitats
Brought dozens of damaged areas back to health through hands-on volunteer projects and, since 2006, have completed more than 15 new projects and restored 29 miles of shoreline

Involving Communities
Engaged tens of thousands of volunteers, kids, families and activists in cleanup and planting projects, policy advocacy, low-tide explorations, lectures, boat trips, and workshops.

Protecting Shorelines
Strengthened shoreline protection regulations at the state and local levels and, since 2006, more than 670 miles have been protected by enhanced policies.
